If you use food stamps, also known as the SNAP program, and find it hard to go to the grocery store, you might be able to shop online instead.

Many big stores now let you use your SNAP EBT card to order groceries through their websites or apps. This is really handy if you can't or don't want to visit the store yourself.

Can You Shop with SNAP EBT at Amazon?

Yes, you can! Amazon has two ways to shop:

  • Groceries on Amazon: This is where you can buy items that don't go bad quickly, like canned goods and pasta. If you're a Prime member, shipping is free. If you're not, you'll get free delivery when you spend at least $35. If you spend less, you'll have to pay for shipping, and you can't use your EBT card for that.
  • Amazon Fresh: This service is like a regular grocery store and has fresh food. It's only in some US cities. You can get it delivered quickly, but there might be a delivery charge unless you spend enough or have Prime.

Does Target Take EBT Online?

Target does accept EBT online. You can order from Target.com and choose their delivery service, Shipt. You can pay like you would with a credit card, and picking up your order the same day or using the drive-up service is free.

If you want your groceries brought to your home, it may cost $9.99 unless you're a Shipt member and spend over $35.

Can You Use EBT at Walmart Online?

Walmart also takes EBT for online orders all over the US. You can pick up your groceries at the curb without extra cost if you spend $35 or more, or you might have to pay a small fee if you spend less.

If you choose delivery, there could be delivery charges. Only food you can buy with SNAP can be paid for with your EBT card, so you'll pay delivery fees with other money.

Can You Shop at ALDI with EBT Online?

Yes, ALDI accepts SNAP EBT for in-store, pickup, and delivery orders everywhere they have stores.

What Other Grocery Stores Take EBT Online?

You can also use your EBT card online at stores like:

  • Albertsons
  • H-E-B
  • Hy-Vee
  • Kroger
  • Safeway
  • Stop & Shop
  • ShopRite

Can You Use EBT with DoorDash?

DoorDash, the food delivery app, has started allowing SNAP payments for groceries. You'll find a SNAP label on the items you can buy with your benefits. They're also offering two free months of their delivery service with a DashPass.

How About Instacart and EBT?

Instacart is a grocery delivery service that also accepts EBT card payments for delivery and pickup from stores like ALDI, Stop & Shop, and a few others. To use it, you need an Instacart account and you can get a discount on their membership.

Will Wholesale Stores Like Costco and Sam’s Club Take EBT Online?

Costco and Sam's Club accept EBT cards, but you can't use them online, only in their physical stores.

Do Food Delivery Apps Like GrubHub Accept EBT?

No, apps like GrubHub, Uber Eats, and PostMates don't take EBT because they mostly deliver hot, ready-to-eat food, which you can't buy with SNAP benefits.

Are You Missing Out on SNAP Benefits?

Many people who could get SNAP don't apply for it. Remember, it's worth finding out if you can get help so you can have healthier food without worrying so much about the cost.
